Africa has so much to see, taste, and learn. We are a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of those in need. Our work focuses on women and youth the east African country of Uganda. At CAC Serves we're on a mission to Redefine Charity. Join Us in Making a Difference.
During our continued travels over the years to East Africa, we noticed an inordinate number of NGOs and charitable organizations densely located within the region. While there were plenty of benevolent activities and charitable agencies around, however, the day to day lives of the average African remained the same. After numerous conversations and meetings with villagers, professionals, former NGO workers and politicians, one thing was clear – the current charity model wasn’t having a long-term and sustainable impact on the lives of the people. The need for a change in how programs are designed, developed and implemented sparked us to develop the RESPONSIBLE CHARITY© model.
We believe that CAC Serves’ newly developed way of engaging in philanthropy e.g., RESPONSIBLE CHARITY© will put the power of meaningful economics back into the hands of the African. Currently, we have over 10 projects that would benefit from in-kind and financial charitable support. To receive funding, each project must be vetted, verified and sustainable (profitable). As such, once a project is fully operational, the recipients do not need to return for funding. They become the funders for one of our portfolio projects. How cool is that?
We support registered women's arts and crafts associations by providing them with a steady market for their beautiful creations. CAC Serves is partnered with Makerere University, Fine Arts Dept. to provide training to the women on enhanced basket weaving techniques, quality control and pricing.
Uganda produces some of the riches and flavorful honey in the world. The low entry cost of starting apiary projects enables CAC Serves to buy beekeeping supplies and provide training to many local farmers in western Uganda.
Food justice is an important part of community justice. Though Uganda is known for its fertile soil, farmers continue to live hand to mouth. To combat climate change, CAC Serves and our local partners provide farmers with fruit and nut seeds to supplement their income while also helping the environment.
