CAC Serves isn't just another charity that has come to Africa—it's a movement, a call to action, a lifelong commitment. Our work is directed towards women, families and youth in East Africa, especially Uganda. Every project and every initiative, MUST weave a new narrative of economic empowerment and sustainability.
Meet the resilient woman you encounter along the dusty roads of Africa, gracefully balancing a bundle of vegetables, firewood, or homemade delicacies atop her head. Her days stretch into endless hours, marked by the absence of modern comforts like electricity and indoor plumbing. Beyond her village, the world remains largely unexplored territory.
The meager earnings from her toil barely scratch the surface of meeting her family's needs, let alone affording education for her children. Yet, every dawn she rises, driven by an unyielding determination to survive and provide.
Often overlooked except when her image is invoked for charitable appeals, she embodies the silent strength of millions like her across the continent. But we refuse to let her fade into oblivion.
At CAC Serves, we pledge to rewrite her story—one of resilience, abundance, and empowerment. Join us as we honor the forgotten woman, transforming her narrative from one of struggle to one of promise and prosperity.
Art is a reflection of creativity, expression, and culture, transcending boundaries and embodying the essence of human experience. But who determines its definition and assigns value to its creation? This question lies at the heart of a global discourse on art and its commodification.
In the realm of art, African women have long been creators of breathtaking masterpieces, each piece bearing the imprint of their unique stories and heritage. Yet, these works often find themselves transported to distant lands, where they are priced far beyond their intrinsic value.
It's a paradoxical situation: while buyers in Western countries readily acknowledge the beauty and significance of these creations, they all too frequently expect the artists—often African women—to accept minimal compensation for their labor and talent. This discrepancy in valuation stands starkly in contrast to the norms prevailing in Western societies, where creators are rightfully remunerated for their work.
Consider, for instance, a pair of exquisite shoes crafted in the ateliers of Paris. Regardless of where they are purchased, their value remains consistent, reflective of the skill, craftsmanship, and prestige associated with their origin. Why then should the artwork of African women be subjected to devaluation simply because of its geographic provenance?
CAC Serves advocates for equity and recognition of the true worth of African women's artistry. We stand in solidarity with all African women, particularly those in rural areas, urging them to reclaim their agency and demand fair compensation for their talents. You are not merely artisans; you are visionaries, storytellers, and guardians of cultural heritage. Your creations are priceless, and it's time the world acknowledges and honors that truth.
During our extensive travels through East Africa over the years, we couldn't help but notice the abundance of NGOs and charitable organizations clustered within the region. Despite their noble intentions and the plethora of benevolent activities they undertook, the everyday reality for the average African remained largely unchanged. Through countless dialogues with villagers, professionals, former NGO personnel, and policymakers, one glaring truth emerged: the existing charity model was failing to catalyze long-term, sustainable transformation in people's lives.
This realization sparked a desire for change in how philanthropic programs were conceived, developed, and executed. From these discussions and reflections, the idea of the RESPONSIBLE CHARITY© model was born.
At CAC Serves, we firmly believe that our innovative approach to philanthropy, epitomized by RESPONSIBLE CHARITY©, has the potential to revolutionize the landscape of giving in Africa. By prioritizing sustainability and economic empowerment, we aim to shift the locus of control back into the hands of the African people.
Currently, we are actively engaged in over 10 projects that stand to benefit greatly from both in-kind and financial support. However, our commitment to responsible giving extends beyond mere provision of funds. Each project undergoes rigorous vetting and verification to ensure its viability and profitability in the long term.
What sets RESPONSIBLE CHARITY© apart is its transformative nature: once a project reaches full operational capacity, its beneficiaries transition from being recipients of aid to active contributors to our philanthropic ecosystem. They become the very catalysts for change, funding and supporting subsequent ventures within our portfolio. How cool is that?
We support registered women's arts and crafts associations by providing them with a steady market for their beautiful creations. CAC Serves is partnered with Makerere University, Department of Industry and Fine Arts to provide training to the women on enhanced basket weaving techniques, quality control, production capability and most importantly, smart pricing.
Our objective is to inspire African women artisans to set prices for their handmade goods that reflect the artistry, time, and value invested in creating them. We believe that a woman's value should remain constant regardless of her geographical location.
In Uganda, the land is fertile and blooms with some of the richest and most flavorful honey “unknown” to the world. With the modest entry costs of starting apiary projects, CAC Serves can procure beekeeping supplies and offer invaluable training to numerous local farmers in western Uganda.
Our goal is to help farmers create a market for their delicious honey products.
Food justice is an important part of community justice. Though Uganda is known for its fertile soil, farmers continue to live hand to mouth. To combat climate change, CAC Serves and our local partners provide farmers with fruit and nut seeds to supplement their income while also helping the environment.
Another one of our donations blossomed into a flock of over 150 sheep, benefiting rural women in western Uganda.
